AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust has a dedicated, hard-working and enthusiastic team of coaching and office staff, who all love to make a difference in the local community. All our staff are a minimum Level 1 qualified football coaches, are first aid trained and DBS checked. The Community Sports Trust ensure that our coaches are always developing through various sporting qualifications, NVQ’s and CPD work.   CST-Vitality Meet the team:

Steve Cuss – Head of Community

Steve has been managing the Community Sports Trust since November 2002, having started as Community Coach at Torquay United’s Football in the Community. Steve has helped the Trust develop from a small business to a Premier League scheme which reaches over 4000 people a week.

Steve oversees all of the Community Sports Trust’s projects and can quite often be found out on the field working on our various groups. He is heavily involved with the coaching of the Bournemouth University football teams and manages the men’s first team every match day.

Andrew Battison – Community Operations Co-Ordinator

Andrew joined the team in February 2015, having previously worked for Dorset FA where he gained his UEFA A Licence coaching badge, and also his Level 1 and 2 Tutor Status.

Since joined the Sports Trust, Andrew has introduced many new schemes, most notably the Linked Club Scheme, which sees the Trust work closely with specific local football clubs, including their players and staff.

Andrew is continuously working towards staff development, he maintains staff qualifications, and is currently helping all Community staff members achieve their FA Level 2 coaching badge.

Anne Cuss – Community Administrator

Anne has worked for the Community Sports Trust for the past 12 years. Her main role within the scheme is the administration and also organisation of the staff.

Anne is also responsible for the booking and confirming of our popular Birthday Parties, and so is the main contact you are looking for with regards to this. She is also responsible for booking participants onto our sessions. If you have any specific queries with regards to the work of the Trust, she is also your best contact.

Russell Beardsmore – Social Inclusion Officer

Russell is an ex-professional footballer, having made his name playing for Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth. He joined the Community Sports Trust in 2004, having previously worked for Bolton Wanderers Community Scheme.

Russell takes the lead on our Sarum Academy project, and works hard to deliver our Care South project, through Walking Football and the Extra Time Project.

Gemma Cuss – Media and Marketing Assistant

Gemma joined the Trust in a full-time position this July following completion of her Psychology degree. She joins the team in a permanent position to run their media and marketing for the scheme, following a long-term period as a volunteer.

Gemma runs all of our social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. She can also be found at sessions regularly taking photographs, which are used for marketing purposes.

Patrick Wilson – College Coach/Tutor

Following a successful playing career in football, including teams in Canada and Belgium.

Patrick focused his efforts on teaching and coaching sport, specifically football and is currently working towards gaining his UEFA A License.

Patrick’s time is spent working with our Football Development Programme.

He works as both a Level 2 Tutor, and is also the Head Coach of the programme.


Matt Divine – College Coach

Matt joined the Community Sports Trust as an apprentice in 2011, after a successful two years he was offered a position as a Community Coach. During his time at the Sports Trust, Matt has worked on many different projects, and with a variety of groups.

His main roles and responsibilities now include the coaching of our Football Development Programme College group. He also leads of Girls Development sessions at Bournemouth University, and manages to AFC Bournemouth Ladies Development Squad.

Chloe Tape – Project Co-Ordinator

Chloe is working for the Community Sports Trust on a year-long internship, through Community partners Bournemouth University. Chloe is currently study towards a degree in Sports Psychology and Coaching Sciences, she also captains Bournemouth University Women’s football team. She is currently running the Female Football Development Programme, and also is heading the Premier League School Sport project.

Throughout her internship, Chloe maintains her Captain status on Bournemouth University’s football team, and also plays for AFC Bournemouth Ladies Development Squad.

David Pudney – Project Co-Ordinator

David gained an apprenticeship with the Sports Trust following his involvement with the National Citizen Service, as both a participant and volunteer. Following a successful two year apprenticeship, and his involvement with our educational projects, David is now a Project Co-Ordinator.

David helps to teach our variety of education lessons, including; Bug Busters, Respect and Internet Safety. He also co-runs our Saturday morning sessions at Wimborne Town FC.

Jordan Hayter – Disability Officer

Jordan is in to his third year of full-time work with the Sports Trust after graduating from our apprenticeship scheme. During his time at the Sports Trust Jordan has worked on a variety of different sessions.

His time is now focused more specifically to working on our disability sessions, including working closely with the various Ability Counts teams.

Ryan Attree – Kicks Project Co-Ordinator

After successfully gaining his Level 1 and 2 coaching badges on our respective College courses, Ryan joined the Trust as an apprentice. Following completion of his apprenticeship, Ryan gained a full-time position working as a social inclusion officer, on our community evening sessions.

On promotion to the Premier League, Ryan has taken on a new role working on our Premier League Kicks project, leading the Bourne Academy Friday night session.

Jordan Newport – Kicks Project Co-Ordinator

Jordan is another of our Level 1 and 2 College graduates, who has worked his way to a full-time position within the community. Also gaining various other qualifications, including his referees badge along the way.

Jordan now makes up one-third of our Premier League Kicks team, his efforts focused on our Friday night evening session at AFC Bournemouth

Aaron Scott – Kicks Project Co-Ordinator

Aaron gained his apprenticeship with the Sports Trust through a fantastic period of work experience with the club, during this time he displayed a lot of enthusiasm and ability towards football coaching.

Nick Clark – Community Coach

Nick gained his Level 1 and 2 coaching badges through our Bournemouth and Poole College programmes before gaining a an apprenticeship and full-time position in the Community.

He is heavily involved in a number of new projects soon to be introduced in 2016, and is involved in match day work at AFC Bournemouth.

Kieran Nicol – Community Coach

Kieran gained a full-time position in the Community following a successful apprenticeship.

His job role sees him heavily involved in our various girls and women’s projects. At present, Kieran is the assistant to the Managers at AFC Bournemouth Ladies Development Squad and also the Bournemouth University Ladies teams. Kieran also assists on our Girls Development weekend sessions.

Ben Allis – Second Year Apprentice

Ben is now into his second year of the apprenticeship scheme following a very successful first year.

He is heavily involved with the delivery of our extra-curricular activities throughout Dorset.

Jordan Greening – Second Year Apprentice

Jordan progressed to an apprentice following gaining his FA Level 1 coaching badge, through our Bournemouth and Poole College course.

Jordan is currently working towards obtaining his FA Level 2, and is one of the lead coaches on our Premier League School Sports programme.


Declan Randall – Second Year Apprentice

Declan joined the Community Sports Trust as an apprentice following his release from AFC Bournemouth Academy and Youth teams, where he has played since under 10’s.

Declan brings a vast knowledge of playing experience to all his coaching sessions, and offers a different coaching experience to all our participants. Declan has also recently qualified as a Level 2 Gym instructor.

Mac Raney – Second Year Apprentice

Mac is currently a second year apprentice, following the completion of his first year of the apprenticeship scheme. Mac works closely with Russell Beardsmore and the Sarum Academy project.

He is also one of the lead coaches on our Care South – Walking Football programme.

Charlie joined the Community Sports Trust after successfully completing his Level 1 on our Bournemouth and Poole College course and also following his participation on our Football Development Programme.

Adam Curtis – First Year Apprentice

Adam began working for the Community Sports Trust following his graduation from our Football Development Programme, where he was an outstanding student. He brings a lot of knowledge to the team, and is always eager to learn and expand his knowledge within the job.

Adam is currently working towards gaining his Level 2 coaching qualification.


Craig Trite – First Year Apprentice

Craig began an apprentice through his participation on the Football Development Programme.

He is already an FA Level 1 qualified coach, and is currently working towards gaining his Level 2.

Sam joins our team following his time on the Football Development Programme.

He has had a bright start to his apprenticeship, and works closely with our AFC Bournemouth Ladies teams.
